Our beloved Nell Rose Thomas, age 92, of Little Rock stepped into to her heavenly home Sunday, March 23, 2014. She was born August 13, 1921, to the late Frank and Margarete Ramsey in Little Rock, Ark. She was like a mother to all of her grandchildren, as well as her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was known for open arms and welcoming everyone in her home. Mom was full of life and gave every moment she could to serve others. For many years she devoted her time to the infant nursery at Word Aflame, previously First United Pentecostal Church in Little Rock. If you had a question about life, raising a child in the way they should go, cooking, home remedies, she always had the answer. She was steadfast, strong and consistent, loving you regardless – even when you felt you didn't deserve it-- and she made you feel loved and valued. She leaves with us wonderful memories and the desire to pass on her legacy of a true servant's heart, the ultimate example of God's love. We have learned the power of a strong relationship will sustain us when we feel weak and will give us strength. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Herman Robert Thomas; brothers Jack, Burt and Raymond Ramsey; sisters Zella Hughes, Patsy McFarland, Margarete Sullens and great-granddaughter, Somer Nicole Tolliver and daughter-in-law, Kristin Clubbs Thomas. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, John and Judi Tolliver of Sherwood, son and daughter-in-law, Frank "Butch" and Dianna Atkinson of Bryant, son and daughter-in-law Herman R. "Bobby" and Joy Thomas II of Little Rock, daughter and son-in-law, Jeff and Debbie Newkirk of Roland, and son, Darin Thomas of Little Rock; sister, Dorothy Hinshaw of Burlington, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren along with a host of loving family members and friends. Visitation will be from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be at 11:00am, Thursday, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W 12th St., Little Rock. Service with be conducted by Reverend Bryan Shock. Interment will be in Pine Crest Memorial park. The family would like to thank the staffs of Home Instead and Hospice Home Care for the exceptional care given to our mother. Memorials should be made to Turnpointe Church of Conway, Arkansas. Please share your memories and messages of love, comfort and support with the family at www.griffinleggetthealeyroth.com.
