Robbie Gene Hutchens

Robbie Gene Hutchens, 67, of Bearden died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at home on the homeplace he loved, and where he was born September 28, 1947, at Hopeville near Bearden. He was a retired welder and member of the Church of Christ in Bearden. He worked in sawmill and chip mill construction for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Susie Louise Hutchens; a sister, Joyce Hutchens; and infant son, Robert Grant Hutchens. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cheryl Gurnsey Hutchens; daughter Shea Wilson and husband, David, of Hopeville; sister, Darenthia "Dee" Wilson and husband, Charles, of Fordyce; niece, Stacy Holloway and husband, Jason, of Fordyce; nephew, Daniel Wilson of Fordyce; two great-nieces, Lexis Hopkins and Sydney Holloway; nephew, Jasper Wilson and family of Bearden; uncle, Lawrence Purifoy and wife, Virgie, of Lawton, Okla.; two sisters-in-law, Diane Gurnsey Christmas and husband, Tony, of Blair, Okla.; and Pamela Gurnsey Kyzer and husband, Jack, of Fordyce; niece, Leigh Kyzer Beasley and husband, Robert, of Leola; nephew, Kyle Kyzer and wife, Laura, of Sheridan; and great-nieces, Hannah Weatherly and Whitley Beasley. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Benton Funeral Home in Bearden. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bethel Cemetery near Bearden with Gary Rayborn and Mark Berley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of Christ in Bearden.
