Carlos L. Garriott

Carlos L. Garriott, passed away Aug. 6, 2015 at Brighton Ridge in Eureka Springs, Ark. after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Carlos was born in Fayetteville on Nov. 1, 1931 to Luther Garriott and Jeanette Dodd Durning. He married Juana Florence Jordan on Sept. 3, 1954 and they were married for 58 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, June Lankford. He is survived by his children, Larry Garriott and Rocky Garriott of Fayetteville; one daughter, Carma McAleer and her husband, Michael of Eureka Springs; his six grandchildren, Jason and James Garriott, Matthew and Katie Garriott and Anna and Cora Lewis; and his sister, Linda Garriott Phillips of Springdale; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Carlos worked at the University of Arkansas physical plant for 49 years as a painter and the paint shop foreman. He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. He also loved his farm and gardening, raising cattle and cutting his hay. He could fix anything and also liked anything to do with cars from rebuilding motors to the final paint job. Carlos' life would not have been complete without his friends, and spent many hours with them just hanging out in his shop. He was a very kind generous and loving man. There will be a visitation for family and friends at Beard's Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Round Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
