On Monday, August 17th, John Franklin "Bud" Glover, formerly of McCrory, Ark. and Brookfield, Ill. met God. Known to friends and family as "The Arkansas Flash", John was an avid fisherman, a Razorback football fan, and, most importantly, a great man. Born in 1932 to Glen and Josephine Glover, John attended McCrory High School. He played football for the Jaguars, and held the record for the longest punt in school history (72 yards, on Oct. 6, 1950) for 21 years. After graduation, he joined the United States Army, and achieved the rank of Corporal. He met the girl that would become his wife in 1954. They married in 1956 and settled down in her hometown of Brookfield, Ill., where they raised their family and lived for 40 years. They retired to Mayflower, where they lived for 21 years. John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joanne Broggi Glover; his son, Michael (Michelle) Glover of Romeoville, Ill.; daughter Josie Glover (Brian) Robinson of Mayflower, Ark.; Grandchildren Kristin, Cole, Stephanie, Ian & Stacy Robinson; Nina & Jeremy Glover; step-grandson Donald Creech and step-great grandson Jace Creech. As per his wishes there is to be no wake or funeral services, but a private family memorial will take place in October. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Childrens Research Foundation, INC. PO Box 205, Clarendon Hills, Ill., 60514. For online guestbook www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.
