DONALD MASON EPPERSON, 81, of Little Rock, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 while surrounded by family. He was born Aug. 22, 1933 in Center Ridge, Ark. to Hulen and Leota Epperson. Don was a graduate of Morrilton High School and received his Bachelor's Degree at the Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway where he also played on the football team. He continued his education at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he received Master's Degrees in both Education and Mathematics. He actively served in the Army from 1953-1955. Don started his career at Little Rock University as an Instructor of Mathematics. He also taught at El Dorado High School, Oklahoma Military Academy, and the University of Central Arkansas. Additionally, Don worked for IBM for 26 years where he retired as a Senior Systems Engineer. After retiring, Don volunteered his teaching services at Philander Smith College. Don was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church where he taught in the Agape Sunday School Class, served on the Endowment Committee, Finance Committee, and Helping Hands. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Jo Mourot; and grandson, Luke Epperson. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Epperson; his children: David Epperson, Donna Cranford (Bryan), and Denise White, all of Little Rock; stepchildren, Marsha Goings (Mark) of Cabot, Karla Hilburn (Tommy) of Little Rock; grandchildren: Brad Fausett (Jenn), Allison Summers (Kent), Madison and Owen White, Mathew and Jacob Epperson; stepgrandchildren, Brittany Marsh (Matthew), John Mark Goings, and Holly Hilburn; and three great-grandchildren: Josie, Henry and Scarlett Summers; also Carmen Hall Fleck of Fort Smith and Glen Mourot of Morrilton. A family columbarium service will precede the Celebration of Life to be held at St. James United Methodist Church, Wednesday, August 26 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Sieg Johnson and Reverend Greg Schick officiating.
