Harold Edward Foster Sr.

Harold Edward Foster Sr., 89, died November 30, 2015, at Hope, Arkansas. Born in Mist, Arkansas, April 23, 1926, he was the youngest son of Jesse Harrison and Cynthia Jane (White) Foster. Educated in the Portland Public Schools, he entered military service in 1944; served overseas more than 14 months; saw action in the Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes campaigns as a part of the 331st Combat Infantry, 83rd Division of the U.S. Army and won the European Theater Ribbon with three Battle Stars, the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and American Theater Ribbon. After spending seven months with the Army of Occupation of Germany, he returned home to attend college at the University of Arkansas, Monticello and then Fayetteville. He was a life-long Razorback fan. After graduation in 1950, he was employed at the Farmers Home Administration, part of the U. S. Department of Agriculture, for thirty years retiring in 1981. Harold was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to share the fresh fruits and vegetables from his yearly garden with his friends and family. In his spare time, he raised pure-blood beagles. He is survived by his two sons, H. Edward Foster Jr. (Shung), Hope, Ark., and Fred Foster (Betty), Bryant, Ark.; and two daughters, Rita Foster Wallace, Springfield, Mo., and Cindy Foster Serio (Joe), Houston, Texas; his nine grandchildren: Ryan Wallace (Linda), Ivan Foster (Carol), Dennis Foster (Shelly), Brad Foster (Audra), Stacy Lasater (David), Matt Serio (Courtney), Priscilla Vines (Terry), Ashley Burnett (Chip) and Katie Serio; 15 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leona Elizabeth (Sansing) Foster; a granddaughter, Clarissa (Wallace) Chemali; his parents, four brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be held at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Ark. 72209 (501) 455-5800 on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2015 at Henderson United Methodist Church, 13000 W. Baseline Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209 with Rev. Cindy Serio and Rev. Mike Utley presiding. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park with military honors. Pallbearers: Ryan Wallace, Ivan Foster, Dennis Foster, Brad Foster, Matt Serio, Terry Vines, David Lasater, Santiago Chemali and Chip Burnett. Honorary Pallbearers are Katherine Brown, Jimmy & Ruthie Hughes, Margie Christian, Dorothy Pruitt, Lillie Spivey, Mary Jane Mc Donald and Flora Beggs.
