Billy G. Henry, age 83, of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born December 16, 1931 in the Montongo community to the late William J. and Agnes McQuistion Henry. He was a retired small business owner, a skilled craftsman who loved to build furniture, and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish with his family. After serving in the United States Air Force for four years in Europe during the Korean War as a Top Secret Communications Specialist, he returned home. He graduated from Arkansas A&M College, now UAM, in 1960 with a BA Degree in Industrial Management. Billy loved to serve others with his cooking skills, always feeding large groups of people in the community and church. He has been an active member of First Baptist Church since 1958 where he served as church host for twenty plus years and Sunday School Secretary for 40 years. Billy was a Justice of the Peace for twenty-eight years missing only two meetings. At the present time, he was serving on the Board of Directors of Annswood Apartments. He was a past president of the Optimist Club. He was also a member and past state secretary of United Commercial Travelers and a board member for College Heights Credit Union. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Genella Worbington Henry of Monticello; two sons, David Henry and wife Joy of Friendswood, Texas and Kevin Henry and wife Michele of Monticello; one grandson, Jordan Henry; two granddaughters, Kayla and Claire Henry; three brothers, Paul Henry of Greenville, Miss., Tom Henry and Bob Henry both of Monticello; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Worbington officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
