Steven David Turner of Naples, Fla. passed away on a beautiful November 20th morning, with sunlight steaming into the room, my precious husband passed from my arms, and sister Linda's arms, to the angels after a brief, but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Steven was born in Utica, NY on March 28, 1959. He graduated from the University of Missouri and then moved to California where he met and married his soulmate of 33 years, Diane. He had a stellar career as a Sales and Marketing executive in the Silicon Valley high-tech industry. He then followed his dreams and moved to Naples where he started BridgeWay International in 1999. A bicycle design and manufacturing company with factories in China, it has become one of the largest companies of its kind in the world and Wal-Mart is one of its biggest customers. He recently retired, but remained as Chairman of the Board. He literally changed the way business was done in the industry–magnificently. His infectious smile, warm and exuberantly happy personality won many friends here and around the world. He touched so many lives and was so loved by those who knew him. His most precious times were spent in his garden, in the kitchen cooking with Diane and being in the home he loved. He also loved the water and had to be near it, in it or on it. He was a writer of fiction with one novel completed and enjoyed golfing and fishing with his ‘brothers'. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jean Stine and David Turner and two infant brothers, Michael and Mark. He is survived by his wife, Diane; sisters Linda (Mark) Yancey, Susan (Michael) Sherlock; brothers Chris and Kevin; uncle Dick Newall as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, of whom he was so proud; and his beloved Yorkies, Teri and Toni. He will be deeply, deeply missed. A private family service was held in November. A Remembrance/Celebration of Life will be held in March. Memorial donations may be made in Steven's name to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of SWFL or the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Additional service information will be available online when services are scheduled and on-line condolences may be made as well by visiting HodgesNaplesMG.com.
