Kate Crawford Huie Smith Chandler

Kate Crawford Huie Smith Chandler, passed away peacefully in her home in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 21, 2015 at the age of 77. Kate was born on November 14, 1938 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to William L. Huie Jr. and Martha Sue Bossinger Huie Smith. In 1941 Kate's mother married George Hamby Smith, who soon after adopted Kate in that same year. Kate graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1956 and married her "high school sweetheart," Robert "Bobby" Harold Chandler, on January 11, 1959. They were married for 53 years. Following graduation, Kate pursued a career in Nursing and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1974 and retired from St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, Arkansas in 2002. Kate is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband of 53 years, Robert "Bobby" Harold Chandler (2012) and son, Stuart Ashcraft Chandler (2012). Kate & Bobby were blessed with three sons: Stephen Crawford Chandler (Cindy) of Bryant, Ark. - Stuart Ashcraft Chandler of Little Rock (Deceased 2012) – and Todd Hamby Chandler (Kelly) of Cabot, Ark. Kate's surviving sons remember their Mother as being loving, caring and gentle, as do her daughters-in-law. She was a Mother that encouraged them all to pursue their goals in life, how to be great husbands and great role models for all of their children and grandchildren. Kate & Bobby were also blessed with many grandchildren & great-grandchildren and they are as follows: children and grandchildren of Stephen Crawford Chandler: Meghan Denise Chandler – Claire & Jaxson; Stephen Crawford Chandler, Jr. (Katie) – Briar Lane and expecting another, Charleigh Rae in March 2016 to Casey Nichole Echols; Alexander Harding Chandler (Lakin) and Wally-West; Casey Gainous; Kaitlyn Nicole Chandler and Cameron-Rose Chandler. Children and grandchildren of Stuart Ashcraft Chandler: Brandon Ross Chandler (Jessica) expecting their first child Aubrey Grace in February 2016, Christopher Robert Chandler, Hayley Ashcraft Chandler and Lauren Julé Chandler. Children and grandchildren of Todd Hamby Chandler: Todd Hamby Chandler, Jr. (Amanda) – Mckenzie Joyce & Braylen Todd, Andrew Oliver Chandler (Taylor) – Easton Oliver & Lawson Carter, and Kate Elizabeth Chandler Meyer (Mitchell). A memorialservice is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Griffith Leggett Healey & Roth located at 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72204, with grandson Andrew Oliver Chandler officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kate Crawford Chandler's life.
