Joel Avery Russell

Joel Avery Russell, age 50, of Bald Knob passed from this life on Tuesday morning, December 29, 2015 at 7:41 a.m. He was born in Searcy, Ark. on April 29, 1965 at 7:41 a.m. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and his children: Jordan Russell (Brittany), Stone Russell, Raini Bell (Dillon), Ellynnly and Ava Russell, all of Bald Knob. He is also survived by his mother and step-father, Frances and Carl Cook, sisters Monica Johnson (Rick) and Dyana Sterling (Darrin), brother Johnny Russell (Lalena), grandchildren Jayden, Aerie Kay, and Ezra, all of Bald Knob. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, a multitude of extended family and friends, and one very special best friend and cousin, Aaron Russell. He is preceded in death by his father, Jodie Leon Russell, brother, Jodie Russell Jr., grandmothers,, Gladys Jones and Rosetta Martin Russell Jones, grandfathers H Estes, Buck Jones, and Isaac Newton Russell, and many other extended family members. Avery was adored by his family and had a host of friends. If you were in a room with Avery, you were laughing. At him or with him mattered not, as long as he felt he had brightened your day. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was also a talented craftsman who could literally make anything he wanted with his hands. Avery was a hard worker, a jokester, and a cheerful and benevolent giver. He loved his family with his whole heart, and they loved him even more. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be on Saturday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home. Services will be conducted Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Velvet Ridge Church of Christ.
