Ada Katheryn Barrett Albright

Ada Katheryn Barrett Albright, of Little Rock, formerly of Sherrill, Arkansas, departed a long and fulfilling life, Monday, February 2, 2015 at the age of 101 years. Born October 13, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Henry Rush and Martha Craig Barrett, granddaughter of John and Ada Barrett, early cotton planters along plum bayou in Jefferson county. Ada was raised and educated with her sisters in the closely connected farming community of Sherrill, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School. She went on to study at Galloway College for Women in Searcy, Arkansas. Ada was happily married to William A. "Chick" Albright for over 50 years. She continued to reside in Sherrill throughout her adult life and assisted her husband in the extensive operations of Albright Planting Company, Inc. A devout member of United Methodist Church of Sherrill, Ada faithfully served as church organist, pianist and music director for 70 years, before moving to assisted living facilities in Little Rock in the last decade of her life. She served as delegate to United Methodist Annual Conference for many years. She also was active in community affairs, Sherrill Public Schools, Sherrill Civic Club, and Serosis Club in Pine Bluff. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Alvis "Chick" Albright; and two sisters, Wilsie Colclasure and Gene Turk. She is survived by her son, William Barrett Albright, of Pine Bluff; her daughter, Martha "Kitten" Coop, of Little Rock; her grandchildren, William Barrett Albright II, of Little Rock, Melissa Lyn Albright, of Dallas, and Jack Griffin Coop, of Little Rock; one great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren; along with many special extended relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2015, at St. James United Methodist Church, Little Rock with Reverend Siegfried Johnson and Reverend Greg Schick officiating, by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time. A graveside service will be 3 p.m., Friday, at Bellwood Annex Cemetery with Reverend Fred Arnold officiating.
