Robert Dodds McGill

Robert "Bob" Dodds McGill, 66 years old, of Nashville, Arkansas went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 26, 2015. He was born on July 15, 1948 in Hope, Arkansas to the late Sam Allen & Mara Louise McGill. He graduated from Hope High School, before serving his country in Vietnam from April 1969 to November 1970. Upon leaving the Army he went to work as a lineman and spent his career working at AP&L in Little Rock, Ark., then moving to Washington state where he worked for PUD before returning home to Nashville, Ark. where he retired from SWEPCO. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Nashville, Arkansas where he served as an active Deacon, taught a men's Sunday School Class and served on various committees. Bob loved life on the lake, in the woods hunting, fishing, and spending time reading in his recliner. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends, always welcoming the opportunity to visit and fellowship. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Mara McGill, a niece, Cara Jones, a sister-in-law, Judy Jackson and nephew Paul Jackson Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Gail Hartsfield McGill, a daughter, Michelle McGill Boulden and husband Beau of Leawood, Kan., a son, Mark McGill and wife Natalee of North Little Rock, Ark., three grandchildren, Hunter Tuggle, Macee and Miles McGill, a sister, Gayle McGill Jones and husband Gayden, a brother, George McGill and wife Georgia, brothers-in-law, Paul E Jackson, Jerry Hartsfield and wife Pam and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2 p.m.. at First Baptist Church in Nashville, Ark. with Pastor Stan Parris, Pastor Kevin Sartin, and Pastor David Blase officiating. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Phillip Jackson, Perry Jackson, Chris and Matt Hartsfield, Chris and David McGill. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home in Nashville, Ark. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Red Cross Blood Donation Center, 401 S. Monroe St, Little Rock, Ark. 72205 or First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 339, Nashville, Ark. 71852. His family wants to thank Dr. Shane Kimball, Dr. Chris Cate, and Dr. Jamie Burton as well as the many other doctors and medical personnel at Baptist Health Center in Little Rock who were present and fighting with him through the final weeks of his journey on earth.
