Susan Crain Railsback

Susan Crain Railsback, 70, of Pine Bluff died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at Trinity Village Medical Center. Born Aug. 5, 1944 in Memphis, Tenn., daughter of John Enochs and Mary Edith Siler Crain, Susan was raised in the home of her parents near Wilson, Ark. in Mississippi County. She received her early education in Wilson, graduating from Wilson High School where her father—school board secretary and her grandfather, James Henry Crain-school board president, both signed her high school diploma. Susan then attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Susan married Glenn Albert Railsback III on Jan. 24, 1964 in the home of her grandfather, "Oak Meadow" near Wilson. Moving to Pine Bluff, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church there for over 50 years. She was a member of the Junior League of Pine Bluff. A genealogy and family history researcher, Susan was a member of several patriotic organizations including the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as Regent of the John McAlmont Chapter and various state society committees, Daughters of the Confederacy, where she was president of the David O. Dodd Chapter #212, president of the Arkansas Division and Division Registrar and Registrar General of the national organization in Richmond, Va. She was also a member of the National Society of the United States Daughters of the War of 1812, National Society Colonial Dames of the XVII Century and The First Families of Mississippi. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Enochs Crain Jr. and sister, Judy Crain Benten; her survivors include her husband; three children, Mary Edith Railsback Gill (Trey) of Tarry, Ark., Glenn Albert "Railey" Railsback IV of Star City, Arkansas, Dabney Crain Railsback Rich (David) of Star City; sisters, Mary Ann Rose Williams of Blytheville, Ark. and Nancy Crain Balton of Wilson and her grandchildren, Jacob Tyrrell Railsback, Randall Hollis Landreth Jr., John Leeton Landreth, Susan Marie Milton, Jeremy Edgar Thumann, Samuel Enochs Thumann. Services are Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff, with Rev. Susan Carter Wiggins officiating. A reception follows at the church. Burial in Graceland Cemetery is private by Ralph Robinson & Son.
