Mamie Hunter Childs 87, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord January 2, 2015 surrounded by her daughters and son. Mamie Childs was born January 26, 1927 in Grant County, Arkansas to the union of Cora Smith and Danny Hunter. Mrs. Childs was an active and faithful member of College Heights Church of Christ where she taught Ladies Bible Classes. Prior to her illness, she was active with her neighborhood association, enjoyed her daily bible study, weekly water aerobics with friends, gardening, and her favorite pastime was fishing. Mamie moved to Pine Bluff in 1950 and became licensed as a cosmetologist in 1958. She was always active in the PTA with her children's school and many events. She is preceded in death by her parents and sons, James E. Evans and Frank E. Evans. She leaves to morn and cherish her memory; son, Kenneth Wayne Evans (Kathryn) of Pine Bluff, Ark.; daughters, Lunora Marie Vinson (Michael Sr.) of Portland, Ore., Patricia Ann Johnson (Dr. Carl) of Little Rock, Ark., Coretta Renia Sigler (Roland III) of McKinney, Texas and Adopted daughter Barbara Ann Childs of Carthage, Mo. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Visitation/ Family Hour to be held Friday, Jan 9, 2015, 5-6:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Homegoing Service will be Saturday, January 10, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at College Heights Church of Christ, 1313 North Magnolia, by Brother Roy Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Garden by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff. Her Body will lie in-state Saturday, 9:45 until service. Online Registry: www.brownfuneralhomeandmortuary.com.
