Katherine S. Carter, 80, of Beebe, Ark. was born Aug. 3, 1934 at Palestine, Ark. to Tallie and Jennie (Soley) Sartin and she died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015. She was an avid quilter, seamstress, oil painter and gardener. She was a member of Open Arms Assembly of God and a former member of Brinkley Assembly of God. Katherine is survived by three daughters, Karen (Glen) Dailey, Ruth (Jesse) Martin and Bonnie (Greg) Temke; two sons, Alvin (Debbie) Carter, James (Amie) Carter; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Barron; brothers, Harry (Marie) Sartin, Charles "Sonny" (Mary) Sartin, Cecil Sartin and Jeff "Bud" (Peggy) Sartin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Washington Carter; her parents; her brother, Vernor Sartin and sister, Martha Guenther. Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Smith – Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Smith – Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
