Erma Wade Thomas Holder

Erma Wade Thomas Holder, age 91, passed away peacefully, January 18, 2015 at Cabot Nursing and Rehab in Cabot, Ark. She was born in Plumerville, Ark. to Tess McDaniel Thomas and James Harve Thomas on February 15, 1923. She was the wife of John Lester Holder of McCrory. She considered McCrory her home after living there for over 80 years. She graduated from McCrory High School and Draughn's Business School in Memphis, Tenn. Wade was active in numerous organizations: American Legion Auxiliary, McCrory Garden Club, United Methodist Church in McCrory and Cabot, Augusta Professional and Business Women. And Silver Haried Legislators Alumni Association. She was employed by the Department of Revenue for 32 years. Wade, at one time, knew most of the people of Woodruff County because they had to pass through her office to get license for cars, trucks, etc from her at the AR Revenue Department. She said she had the best job for 32 years, meeting and helping the people of Woodruff County. Wade is survived by four daughters; Gloria Allgood (Wayne) of Cabot, Judy Whitehead (Larry) of Sherwood, Betty Wade (James T. "Corky") Cary of West Memphis, Ark.and Doris Farley of Irving, Texas. She is also survived by step-children; John (Madge) Holder of Mineral Wells, Texas, Ted Holder (Carol) of Winchester, VA., Mickey Holder (Billye) of Gregory, Ark. and Susan Fall of Burton, Michigan. She has 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson, Jimmy Cary, her sister, Ruby Sanders and brothers, James, Billy Mac, Jack, Gene, Vance, Can Thomas and step-daughter, Patti McCabe. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. January 22, followed by the memorial service at 11 at the McCrory United Methodist Church. The family would like to send their gratitude to the AR Hospice and the Cabot Nursing Home for the love and support they gave to mother and her family. The staff was wonderful: Dona, Lisa, Katie, Rachel, Kelly, Brianna, Marsha, Carlotta, Cassy, Nols, Abby, Quinton, Jackie, Teresa, Paula, Electa, Michael, Carla and Chyla.
