Charlie "Coach" Vereen Sr.

Charlie "Coach" Vereen Sr., 65, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away, Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born September 10, 1949, in DeWitt, to Carlisle Major Vereen, Sr. and Virginia Henderson Vereen. He was reared and educated in Chesterfield, South Carolina and graduated from Henderson State University. He was a long time Head Coach at White Hall High School and a teacher. Coach was a member of Central Baptist Church and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the White Hall Police Auxiliary for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Debbie Stover Vereen, whom he married on July 14, 1986; sons, Chuck (Ashlea) Vereen of North Little Rock, Chris (Angela) Vereen of Hot Springs, Brock Stover of Pine Bluff; brothers, Corky Vereen of Daytona Beach, Florida, Johnny Vereen of DeWitt, Bill (Susan) Vereen of North Little Rock, Jim (Debbie) Vereen of Star City; five grandchildren, Mattie, McCoy, Gus, Jack and Kash. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday at Robinson's. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2015, at Central Baptist Church with Reverend Allen Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, P.O.
