Betty Lou Matthews

Betty Lou Matthews, age 81, of Sparkman, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at her home. She was born on December 15, 1933 in Manning, the daughter of the late Gale Lee and Lois Oleta David Delamar. Betty Lou was chief financial officer and secretary of her family's trucking company and a member of First Baptist Church in Sparkman. She enjoyed horseback riding, sewing, fishing and gardening. Betty Lou is survived by her husband, James Herbert Matthews, of Sparkman, her daughter, Patsy Matthews of Arkadelphia, her son, James "Frog" (Jan) Matthews of Sparkman, four sisters, Olene Delamar Peterson of Camden, Doris (William R.) Mann of Sparkman, Judith G. (William) Abbott of London and Paula Jackson of Sarepta, La., two grandchildren, JoAnn (Jeremy) Vann of Sparkman and Jodie G. (Mike) Daniell of Arkadelphia and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Colby and Brady Daniell and Wesley Vann. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Sparkman with Bro. James Guthrie and Rev. Billy Hastings officiating. Interment will be in Sparkman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
