Christopher Alan Knight, 47, of San Francisco, Calif., passed away July 10, 2015. Chris was born March 27, 1968 in Fayetteville, Ark. to George E. Knight and Vicki B. Knight. He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and the University of Arkansas. He is a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Chris' career in Sales and Marketing took him to Little Rock, Chicago, Phoenix, Nashville, Fayetteville and San Francisco. He had a passion for entrepreneurship and he worked for several start-up companies in the Silicon Valley. Most recently, he was head of marketing for Escape Camper Vans and wrote and published a US travel guide. Chris was an avid outdoorsman and adventurer. As a youth, his informal education came from the rivers of Arkansas and the mountains of Colorado. His love and desire for travel led him to exotic locales across the world. He explored Australia, China, Thailand, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Africa, Canada, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, Guatemala, Belize, and others. He climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and many peaks in Colorado and California. He hiked the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal, the California Lost Coast, Yosemite, the Colorado Chicago Basin, Tiger Leaping Gorge in China and the outback in Australia. He scuba dived in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Tanzania/Zanzibar and floated many rivers including the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Chris's warmth, ease and charm allowed him to never meet a stranger. He loved his family, outdoors, music, dogs, books, cooking, and traveling the globe. Chris' exploration and travel revealed his incredible gift for writing and photography. Chris is survived by his beloved dog, John Cash; parents, George and Vicki Knight: wife, Emily Mesko; sister, Kim Dutton and husband Mark; niece, Lauren Robinson (Spencer); nephews, James and Mitchell Dutton; great nephew and niece, Parker and Libby Robinson; uncle, Randy Borman (Brenda); their granddaughter, Ainslee Pearman; uncle, Bill Knight (Sandy), and his special friend and companion Pam Fritz, as well as dear friends around the world. Chris was an adventurer. He had many opportunities to take the conventional highway of life, but turned off it many times in favor of a backroad less travelled. He lived the life many people dream about living...some day. He made some day TODAY and did what his heart was telling him, and worked hard to make it happen. He never chose the easy route, either personally or professionally, but sought the most meaningful and adventurous path. He LIVED. And he shared that life with us. That is his legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you unplug, take a hike, float a river, ride a bike or create an adventure and special memory with the ones you love. Donations can be made in his honor to your favorite charitable organization. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10 a.m. in Fayetteville, Ark. at Stone Chapel at Matt Lane Farms in Goshen. The family requests everyone to dress in casual attire. A reception will follow the service. Services are entrusted to Nelson Berna Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences can be made at www.nelsonberna.com.
