Charlene Ann Arthur

Charlene Ann (Smith) Arthur was born September 14, 1937 in Davenport, Iowa. Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-mother, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her home in Lonoke County. Charlene traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States as a military wife and mother during her husband's military career. She was married in the Dumbarton Street Methodist Church, Georgetown, Washington, D.C. Her marriage lasted 58 years and produced 5 children. Her 5 children (one set of twins) were delivered from France, to the East coast and to the West coast. She managed to maintain a wonderful, loving, stable home for her family during many difficult, hardship assignments. During those years it was not uncommon to walk into her home and hear music from "Big Band" to Aretha Franklin, "I'm a Woman" at full volume! She had a wonderful sense of humor. She was "Momma Do", because she could do anything. Charlene liked to sing, dance and spend time with family. A sweet and loving nature, if she saw someone without a smile she would give them one, all common characteristics threaded throughout her personality. Charlene spent many hours, in many different state, county, and church buildings doing genealogical research on her family. She liked to record her family's activities and history with her (always present) camera. She was a very compassionate lady, as evidenced by her support to numerous educational, child support and environmental organizations. Charlene was preceded in death by a son, Brian Arthur; her parents, H.R. and Lois Smith. She is survived by her husband, Nathan Arthur; daughter, Mary Booher; daughter-in-law, Denita Arthur; son, Jim Arthur; daughter, Debbie Stevens; son, Bob Arthur; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Augusta. Interment will follow in the Augusta Memorial Park by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob – Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
