BOB GENE LOWRY, SR., 80, of Mabelvale, Ark., passed quietly to his eternal rest on March 4, 2015, at 7:50 p.m. after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Nichols Lowry, and his mother, Geneva Roma Sloan Lowry. Bob was their only child. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jane Lowry; three children, Bob Gene Lowry, Jr. (Janet), Brenda Amy Lowry of Dallas and Linda E. Dayer of Conway; grandchildren, Steven Daniel Lowry, Victoria Elizabeth Lowry and Mary Elizabeth Dayer; and two adopted grandsons, Cade and Brandon Bennett of Cabot, Ark. He was a kind father and a friend who could always be relied on. He led a life of selflessness and was always more concerned with the needs of others above his own needs. Bob retired from Little Rock Veterans Hospital after 16 dedicated years of service. He loved helping the veterans who were patients at the hospital. He proudly served our country as a decorated member of the United States Army. After 23 years of military service, he retired with many cherished military awards, but his favorite and most cherished were: Airborne Wings, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantrymen's Badge and his Combat Medical Badge. Bob was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. The rosary will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Chapel, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Ark. 72209, (501)455-5800. The family will receive friends and family following the rosary. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2015 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 6219 Baseline Road, Little Rock, AR 72209, (501)565-9198.
