Herman Roland Strayhorn

Herman Roland Strayhorn, 90, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, at home. He was retired from Windsor Door Company of Little Rock. He served in the Navy during WWII as a Seaman First Class. Mr. Strayhorn is survived by two daughters, Peggy Robinson (Johnny) and Linda Baker, both of Little Rock; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clarence Strayhorn (Vela), O.C. Strayhorn (Alice), Franklin Strayhorn (Lydia), all of McRae, and James Strayhorn (Diane) of Fayetteville; three sisters, Lavern Thompson of McRae, Shirley Surratt (Jerry) of Conway and Juanita Stanley (Tommy) of Searcy. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Strayhorn of North Little Rock; parents, Finus and Alice Strayhorn of McRae; two brothers, Glendal Strayhorn and Delbert Strayhorn; and a sister, Opal Webb. Mr. Strayhorn was loved by all his family, but he had a special bond with his first great-grandchild, Lance Montgomery of Jacksonville. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Rest Hills Memorial Park, Sherwood.
