Donna Wallace Saltzman

Donna Wallace Saltzman, 68, of Batesville, Ark. passed away on May 7, 2015. She was born November 10, 1946 in Gainesville, Mo. to Ray and Loretta Wallace. Donna graduated from Mountain Home High School, where she was a drum major and all-state flutist. She attended the University of Northern Colorado, earning a B.A. in Music Education and a M.M. degree in Flute Performance. Donna was a beloved supporter of the Arts in Batesville. She was a founding member of the Batesville Area Arts Council, and creator of the Artist in Education program. She produced numerous plays with Batesville Middle School children, as well as acted in many plays with Batesville Community Theater. As an active member of the Arkansas Arts Council, Donna served on numerous board committees. She received the Artist of Education Governor's award in 1992. Preceded in death by her husband, John Saltzman, she is survived by her mother, Loretta Wallace; a stepdaughter, Alice Saltzman; two sisters, Denice Nelson and Janis Wallace; and several nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to John and Donna Saltzman Memorial Scholarship at the Batesville Area Arts Council, 246 E Main St., Batesville, Ark.72501. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville. Cremation arrangements by Beard's Chapel. Condolences at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.
