James D Sturdivant passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. James was born March 12, 1952 to James and Gladys Sturdivant in Maryville, Tennessee. James was a graduate of Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. After graduation he started his career at the Jacksonville Police Department. He later went on to work for the North Little Rock Police Department where he retired after 20 years of service. James was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Hutson. James is survived by his wife of 35 years, Laurel Sturdivant who served 25 years in the Little Rock Police Department and five years on the SWAT team; two daughters: Tina Dunn and Chrystal Butler; seven grandchildren; and three brothers: Charles K Garren, Ronald D Garren, and twin brother, Frank D Sturdivant who served 20 years at the Jacksonville Police Department. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, May 15 at That Church, 901 E. Kiehl Avenue, Sherwood Arkansas, 72120. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
