John Wallace Cross

John Wallace Cross, age 84 was born January 18, 1931 in Teague, Texas to Jethro Cross and Jewell Moore Cross and died May 15, 2015 in Camden, Ark. John accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He was an active member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Camden for many years where he served as Deacon and Sunday school teacher until his health prevented. He attended school in Texas, Rosston, Ark. and graduated in 1949 from Fairview High School in Camden, Ark. After graduating from High School, he joined the U.S. Marines. After serving in the Marines, he started his career with International Paper Company in Camden. He retired after 43 years as Power Plant Operator. John was always awed at the beauty of God's creation. He loved o grow flowers as was evidenced by his beautiful yard on Upper White Oak Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lannie Cross, Paul Cross and baby brothers, Larry Cross and Randall Cross. He is survived by the love of his life, Mollie Pruitt; brothers, Bill Cross (Margaret) of Benton and Jerry Cross of Camden; sisters, Madelyn (Dick) Knott of Dallas, Texas, Sybil Ray of Minden, La. and Liz (Richard) Skyles of Shreveport, La.; nieces and nephews; also his constant companion and buddy, little Maggie (poodle); special caregivers, Neil Pruitt and Camille Petree and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Rosston, Ark. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 1674 Maul Road, Camden, Ark. 71701 or OCMC Hospice.
