John Wayne Gambill

John Wayne Gambill, 84, of Benton, passed away May 25, 2015. He was born December 13, 1930 in Brookland, Arkansas to the late Fred and Ethel Shelby Gambill. Wayne was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Benton, where he attended the men's Bible Class and was usher for many years. Wayne worked as a sales representative for furniture manufacturers. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Meb and James Gambill. Wayne is survived by his wife, Jane Gambill of Benton, son, Mark (Devita Gardner) Gambill of Benton, daughter, Waynette (Bob) Scott of Jeffersonville, Indiana, sisters, Kathleen Tate and Louise Mellbourg, both of Huntsville, Alabama, grandchildren, Brittany (Brent) Wilson, Whit (Elissa Dunn) Scott, Nickolas Scott and great-granddaughter, Ava Wilson. Church services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the 1st United Methodist Church in Benton with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. before services at Scott Cemetery on Congo Road. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at 1st United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
