Wanda Files Russell

WANDA FILES RUSSELL, 91, of Little Rock, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015. She was born in O'Kean, Ark. on Oct. 14, 1923 to Arlin Guy and Hazel (Glisson) Files. She graduated from Knobel High School in 1941, attended Hendrix College and Texas State College for Women (before her marriage to the late Raymond H. Russell) and was a homemaker while her girls were small. In her 40's she began a career as a secretary/receptionist and was the first retiree from TCBY in the mid 1990's. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Little Rock. Survivors include her daughters, Melanie Nelson, of Tulsa, Okla., Cherie Kelly (Brian) of North Little Rock, Lisa Thornton of Bryant and Cindy Murray (Jeff) of Waxahachie, Texas; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one cousin, Virginia Lafon of Memphis, Tenn.; other extended family and a host of beloved friends. Celebrating the life of Wanda will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock, Ark. 72205.
