Maxine Edwards Lane, age 91, of Pine Bluff, died on November 3, 2015. She was born in Sheridan on October 16, 1924, the daughter of Joseph Wheeler and Agnes Humphreys Edwards. ‘Mac' to family and ‘Max' to close friends, she grew up in Pine Bluff and was a proud member of the PBHS Class of 1942. She retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal in 1984 and remained active in volunteering with Neighbor to Neighbor and the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, and was a lifetime member and former president of the Jefferson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff, supported the more moderate/liberal wing of the Baptist tradition, and was a progressive Democrat who had boasted a Hillary for President bumper sticker ever since Bill was governor of Arkansas. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Peter and John Paul Lane. She is survived by a son, Joseph Lane and his spouse, Jay Framson, of Altadena, California; a grandson, Stephen Lane, of Benton; and two great grandchildren, Ashtyn and Coltyn Lane of Benton. Joseph Lane wishes to give particular thanks to Dr. Dale Terrell, Dr. Regan Gallaher, Dr. Pervie Simpson, and Dr. Jacquelyn Sue Frigon for the excellent and compassionate care provided his mom. Thanks also to friend, Billie Minton, and cousin, Riki Kimbrell Stamps, who saw after Maxine until Joseph could travel home from California. Maxine's desire was to be buried from Trinity Episcopal Church, Pine Bluff, where she first attended Sunday school as a child living in the neighborhood. The funeral at Trinity will be on Monday, November 16, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Walter Van Zandt Windsor and the Rev. Dr. Joseph Lane presiding; and with participation by the Rev. Kenneth Thornton, the Rev. Dr. Dawson Williams, ‘daughter' Brenda Gullett, and Barbara Samuels; and musicians Faron Wilson, Bill Fox, and Rosalind McClanahan Mouser. Interment in the Trinity columbarium will follow, and then a festive reception in the parish hall, hosted by Wanda Bateman with help from friends at Trinity and First Baptist Churches. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arts and Science Center Endowment Fund, 701 Main Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71601 or the National Parkinson Foundation (parkinson.org), 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, Florida 33131. Cremation arrangements were handled by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors (online register: www.ralphrobinsonandson.com).
