Jettavee Joan Fowlkes

Jettavee George Fowlkes, 82, went to be with our Loving Lord Monday evening, November 23rd. She and her husband, Bill, had been married sixty-one years. They met at Arkansas State Teachers College, now University of Central Arkansas, and were married after graduation May 30, 1954. She had a gift of loving children. She taught in elementary education many years and took early retirement so she could join Bill in ministering to those in hospitals, homebound, and nursing home residents. Also, she worked with babies and small children in the churches where they served. Jetta was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anna Lee George, and siblings, Gail Johnson Brixey and J.C. George. Her sister, Claudette Powell, live in Heber Springs. Jetta and Bill had two daughters, Lynn Sostarich and her husband, Makr, of Spring, Texas and Jan Viertel and her husband, Tim, of Boone, North Carolina. Jetta felt so blessed to have six grandchildren: Carol Ann (Sostarich) Scoggin, Matthew Sostarich, David Sostarich, Nathan Sostarich, Jennifer (Viertel) Sponaugle, and Rachel (Viertel) Bradshaw. She was so proud of her eight great-grandchildren – with two more on the way. The memorial service will be at First Baptist Church of Heber Springs Friday, November 27, with visitation at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.mk. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Drasco.
