Robert Lee "Shorty" Willingham

Robert Lee "Shorty" Willingham, 73, of Dermott, Ark., passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015. He was born in Stewart, Miss. on May 19, 1942 to the late Herbert C. and Anna Belle Macon Willingham. Robert was a 1960 graduate of Tillar High School. He attended Pearl River Junior College in Poplarville, Miss. for two years before going to Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss. Robert worked for Burlington Industries for 34 years and Drew County, Ark. Road Department for 13 years before retiring. He also farmed until 1978. He loved to hunt and fish and served in the Army National Guard for six years. He was a member of Dermott Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Survivors include his wife, Ann Davis Willingham of Dermott, Ark.; brother, Bill Willingham and his wife, Lucy Ann of Eupora, Miss.; mother-in-law, Dorothy Davis of Monticello, Ark.; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Ark. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Ark. with Rev. Billy George West and Rev. Kenny Culpepper officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Rye, Ark. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Bellaire Baptist Church, 2596 Hwy 65 North, Dermott, AR 71638.
