Wanda Lanelle Ramsey

Wanda Lanelle Ramsey, age 89, of Beebe, passed away Oct. 16, 2015. She was born Nov. 16, 1925 in Beebe, Ark. to Ralph and Eula (Dugger) Springer. Wanda is a member of First Baptist Church-Beebe, the Eastern Star Chapter 248 of Beebe, and Daughters of the Nile Temple 136 in Little Rock. While serving in the Eastern Star, Wanda held many positions including Deputy Grand Lecturer, Worthy Matron on numerous occasions, Grand Chapter Mom, and Grand Representative of Kentucky in Arkansas. She was also a member of the White County Historical Society. After a lifetime of work, Wanda retired from clerical positions with Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center, Indianapolis, Ind. and the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville. She enjoyed family, church, needlepoint, crafting and collecting bells. Wanda was very active and involved, particularly in The Eastern Star. She is survived by son, Robert "Niles" Ramsey and wife, Pam of North Little Rock; daughter-in-law, Mary (Lathum) Ramsey of Whitestown, Ind.; grandson, Michael Ramsey and great-granddaughters: Heather, Haley, Devin, Savannah, and Chasey; grandson, Tony Ramsey and wife, Crystal and great-grandchildren: William, Cyan, London, and Brady; granddaughter, Tonya (Ramsey) Wood and husband, Michael and great grandson, Jaydon; granddaughter, Elizabeth Streicher and husband, Dan, great-grandchildren: Brennon, Kaleigh, Blake, and Morgan; two stepgrandchildren, Jennifer Bailey and daughter, Emma and Didi Wright; one great-great-grandson, Isaiah Ramsey. Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Niles Ramsey; son, Gerald "Jerry" Ramsey; parents; a brother, Glenn Eugene Springer. The family would like to recognize and offer a heartfelt thank you to Darcy and Diana Baxley, two very special ladies that provided care and concern the last several months. Family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home with burial to follow at Stoneypoint Cemetery.
