Bill J McDuffie

Bill J McDuffie, 83, passed into Glory on Oct. 17, 2015. Born 1932 in Crosset, Ark. to CC and Ocie McDuffie, he was raised in Eudora, Ark. where he graduated Valedictorian from Eudora High School in 1950. He was attending Arkansas State Teachers College when he was drafted by the US Army to serve in the Korean War. After leaving the service, he moved to Santa Fe, N.M. where he met his future wife, Louise, whom he married in 1964. In 1972, he moved his wife back to Albuquerque where he was an accountant who worked for a number of local companies, retiring from Charter Bank after 13 years in 1992. Bill joined and served the Lord through Hope Bible Church in 1972 where he and Louise have been members for 43 years. During this time, he held many positions from mowing the lawn, Treasurer, Chairman of the Building Committee for the present location of Hope Evangelical Free Church, Chairman of the Deacon Board, teaching the Seniors Bible class, Elder and Deacon. He was very active in the music ministry: singing in the choir, performing in many quartets, and sang numerous solos. After he retired, he joined the Celebration! Choir and sang many years with them. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, H. Glynn McDuffie; sister-in-law, Delma McDuffie; brother-in-law, Tom Phifer; and nephew, John Phifer; and brother-in-law, Richard Moore. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Louise Kellogg McDuffie; son, Russell and wife, Nancy; grandsons, Josh, 19 and Ryan, 17; sister, Carolyn Phifer; and uncle, John R McDuffie of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Norma Kellogg Moore, along with three nieces and three nephews. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Eudora, Ark. at 1 p.m., Oct. 31, 2015 in the family plot.
