Charles Wilson Allbright

CHARLES WILSON ALLBRIGHT, 86, of Little Rock, Ark. died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015. He was born in Oxford, Miss. on Feb. 5, 1929 to the late B.F. and Nita Allbright. He was preceded in death by son Charles Bernard Allbright, brother Bryce Allbright and sister Anne Phillips. He is survived by daughter Tracy Wade (Richard) of Long Valley, N. J., son Paul Allbright (Rita) of Searcy and daughter-in-law Suzanne Allbright of Little Rock; grandchildren, Ashley Nelsen (Geoff) and Charles Samuel Allbright of Little Rock, Allison and Kristen Wade of N. J., Melissa Allbright of Searcy and great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Corbin of Little Rock. His love of Arkansas and its people was the focus of a career in journalism spanning over 50 years. Beginning in 1955 with the Our Town column in the Arkansas Gazette, as Public Relations Manager and speech writer for Governor Winthrop Rockefeller and writing the Arkansas Traveler column for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, he brought his warmth and humor to residents of this state for decades. He had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. In his later years he took pleasure supporting his grandchildren in their athletic and educational endeavors. He demonstrated his love for family each day with wit, wisdom and generosity. Those close to him will not forget his favorite quote by Virgil, "Perhaps in after years, it will delight you to remember these things." Next to his reading chair he left this message: "Of course; this is not the end of anything. It's that interval on the way to where we're going. Lord! What a reunion that will be: family…dear ones…friends… Together forever more... See you There. Don't be Late." Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 West 12th Street in Little Rock with funeral services on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Pastor John Gipson.
