Nichole "Nicki" R. Sanders was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Dr. Nick Riegler and Mary Jane. She was a graduate of St Mary's Hall ('72), Southern Methodist University B.A. ('76), and Baylor Nursing School B.S.N. ('78). She was a nurse for over 35 years in a variety of positions and she used that experience to serve as a Nurse Educator in the LPN program at Southern Regional Technical College in Thomasville passing on her knowledge, compassion and skills to the next generation of nurses. Most recently she used her experiences as a two time cancer survivor to serve as a Nurse Cancer Navigator at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Florida. Her other passion was her horses and Pony Club. She served as DC for Live Oak Hounds Pony Club, RS of Sunshine Region and on several National Committees. Her involvement with the children and horses of Pony Club earned her "honorary mom" status to many which was a great reward to her. Nicki courageously beat Hodgkins Lymphoma at age 17, and Breast Cancer four years ago. Those fights were not without cost, and the damage to her body from those battles led to her recent illness. A true warrior, she fought long enough to be surrounded by her family, before passing away peacefully at Archbold Medical Center on October 26, 2015. Nicki is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Chuck Sanders, her son, Chip Sanders, her daughter, Dr. Laurel Berry, her son-in-law, Christopher Berry and her granddaughter, Emory Berry. She is also survived by sisters, Mary Jane Cheatham, Becky Yates, Barbara Riegler and Kathy Johnson as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. Nicki was an inspiration and guide to so many. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend, teacher, and nurse and will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation for Nichole R. Sanders will occur at All Saints Episcopal Church Parish Hall (443 Hansell Street, Thomasville, Ga. 31792) on Friday October 30, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will occur on Saturday October 31, 2015 at 4 p.m. also at All Saints.
