A Funeral Service for Dr. Mary Ruth Wren of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2015, at First United Methodist Church, with Reverend Randy Ludwig officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 9, 2015, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mary passed away September 5, 2015, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 60. She was born August 8, 1955, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, the daughter of Quentin and Ruth Landers Wren. Mary lived an abundant and accomplished life, among these accolades were graduating Valedictorian at Cotter High School, BS in Medical Technology at UAMS, research on antibody detection of rare antibodies and antigens in Miami, published 20 pier-reviewed articles, received a Doctorate of Medicine from UAMS with honors, served on the Arkansas State Medical Board, Resident OB/GYN at University of Oklahoma, and Chief Administrative Resident in OB/GYN University of Oklahoma. In 1995 she moved back to Mountain Home and began practicing at The Center for Women and began graduate studies and clinical work for the American Board of OB/GYN. In 2005 Mary's vision of a Women's Health Education Center became a reality, The Schliemann Center for Women's Health Education at BRMC. She also was a member of the Board of Admissions at UAMS and served on the BRMC Board of Directors. Mary is survived by her brother, Tom (Debbie) Wren of Mountain Home, Ark.; fiance, Jim Myers of Mountain Home, Ark.; nephew, Tommy (Ann) Wren, II of Melbourne, Ark.; niece, Amanda (Chip) Miller of Siloam Springs, Ark.; five great-nephews, Trey, Grant, Mason Wren and Avery and Cade Miller; two great-nieces, Molly Claire and Morgan Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery, Cotter, Arkansas, with Dr. Harley Barrow, Jimmy Thrasher, Dr. Bruce White, Jerry Myers, Clark Fletcher, Dr. Pete MacKercher, Dr. Joe Tullis and Dr. Kyle Mcalister as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Diane Wallace, Karen Reed, Dr. Val Engelbrecht, Corrine Hiser, Pat Wingard, Josee Schliemann, Danielle Sanders, Cindy Costa, Dr. Michelle Godfrey, Stacy White, Jill Caruso, Brenda Carter, Deanna Russell, Amanda Thornton, and Patty Shay. Memorials may be made to The Schliemann Center for Women's Health Education, Baxter Regional Center for Integrative Medicine, or Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
