Kevin Whitler

Kevin Allen Whitler, 51, of Greer, South Carolina died September 6, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Evansville, Indiana, Kevin was born February 10, 1964. He was the son of Bernice Lair Whitler of Evansville, Indiana and the late Edward Hugh Whitler Sr. Kevin was an employee of Fed Ex and of the Baptist faith. He was a devoted husband and family man, jeep lover, Arkansas Razorback fan, and an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Whitler was a graduate of Harrison High School and University of Southern Indiana both in Evansville, Indiana. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Gwen Phillips Whitler of Greer, South Carolina; two sons, Richard Davis (Julianna) of Greer and Chris Wilson (Kim) of Fort Smith; four brothers, Keith Whitler (Ginger), Ralph Whitler, and Edward Whitler, Jr. (Carole) all of Evansville, Indiana, and Charlie Whitler (Marilynn) of Bradenton, Florida; two sisters, Phyllis Baker of Houston, Texas and Sharlene Nelson (Larry) of Tomball, Texas; eight grandchildren, Payton, Macey Jo, Ryder, Bailey, Emery, Reagan, Hunter and Reece; father-in-law, Gerald and Alice Phillips of Pine Bluff and brother-in-law, Randy Phillips (Sherrie) of Pine Bluff. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Varnell Cemetery in Rison by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
