William "Bill" Tucker of Little Rock passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 in the Little Rock V.A. hospital. He was 87. Bill was born in Spring Hill to Pinkey Eugene and Lura Mae Tucker. He proudly served as a Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Iowa. A veteran of the Korean War, he was also a member of the Royal Order of SNAFU earned for his time stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1955 with a degree in engineering. His untimely demise came at the start of the college football season, a sport he dearly loved. He also loved singing. He was active for many years in the "Society for the Preservations and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America." On most Sundays, he could be found singing in the church choir and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Little Rock. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. He is survived by one sister, Mary Turner of Memphis and his children; Bill Tucker (Nancy), Sherry Tucker, Melionee Knight (Danny) and Alicia Gough (Greg). He was the very proud grandfather of Leslie, Christian, Gus, Georgia, Nancy Jane, Meredith, Molly, E.A., Geoffrey and two great-grandchildren; Ethan and Lilly Kate. A graveside service will be held in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, Thursday September 17 at 11 a.m. Arrangements by Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home.
