Jack Gordon Musgrove

Jack Gordon Musgrove died Monday, September 14, 2015 at the age of 90. He was born February 15, 1925, in Haynesville, La. He graduated from Haynesville High School and then received his Bachelor of Forestry degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Jack was a member of the Society of American Foresters for over 50 years. He moved to Fordyce in 1957 while employed with International Paper Company. He was employed by Bearden Lumber Co. in 1965 where he worked until 1976 when he formed Musgrove Forestry Service. He was a former Boy Scout leader and an avid fisherman and golfer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fordyce. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson and Celia Parker Musgrove; his wife of 51 years, Virginia Barrow Musgrove; two brothers, Thomas Jefferson Musgrove, Jr. and Charles Phillip Musgrove; and a sister, Pauline Musgrove. His survivors include a son, Freddie Musgrove and wife Gail of Fordyce; a brother, Framon Judson Musgrove of South Carolina; two grandchildren, Meredith Whitaker and husband Ron of Ruston, La., and Mitchell Musgrove and wife Shannon of Fordyce; and eight great-grandchildren, Anna Grace, Jack, John, and Ella Kate Whitaker of Ruston, La., and Colton, Peyton, Ruston, and Leah Musgrove of Fordyce. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 16, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. A graveside service will be held in Homer, La. at Arlington Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 17 with Rev. Bill Cato officiating. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
