Donald Foster Owens

Donald Foster "Donnie" Owens of Grapevine, Arkansas (Grant County), was born March 8, 1936 at Grapevine, the son of the late Bedford Foster and Berta Irene Anderson Owens. He was a timber contractor and he enjoyed his dogs, turkey hunting, fishing and reading. Donnie loved his family and his community. He wasn't one to seek attention, but he helped countless people through the years, whenever there was a need. He believed his word was his bond and a "handshake" deal was as good as any contract. Mr. Owens died Monday, April 11, 2016 at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton at the age of 80. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Owens; two very special aunts, Lizzie D. Owens and Alma Owens; special uncle, Booth Owens; sisters, Connie Wootten, Nelda Owens; brothers, an infant brother and Bobby Lee Owens; nephew, Russell Owens. Survivors include his dearest friend and companion, Louise Miller; son, Mike Owens; brothers, Delmon Owens and David Owens, all of Grapevine; sisters, Sadie Lawson of Pine Bluff, Marie Winston of Sheridan, Linda Schales of Donaldson; grandchildren, Blaine Howard, Henslie Owens; great-grandchildren, Haley Michelle Owens; Kassi Howard; a host of other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Jim Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pine Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Pine Ridge Cemetery Association.
