Joan Gutteea, 70, of Mayflower, beloved wife, mother, sister, nana, and friend. Joan was born in County Mayo, Ireland in July 22, 1945. When she was five she moved to Liverpool, England with her seven brothers and one sister. While growing up Joan became particularly close to her brothers Mike, Ted, Jimmy, Peter and sister Mary. When Joan was 17, she began her nursing career at St. Vincent's Hospital, Middlesex, England. At 21, she met her soulmate and future husband, Monn Gutteea, while they were working together at St. Catherine's Hospital, Birkenhead, England. In 1971, they married at St. Patrick's Church, Liverpool, England. Their first child, Kavita was born in 1971 and in 1979 their second child, Melanie was born. In 1990, Joan was recruited to UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas as a neonatal intensive care nurse. In 2006, Joan achieved her bachelor's degree with honors in History and English. In 2012, her precious grandson, Lincoln was born in Colorado so Joan and Monn moved to Colorado for three years to help take care and love him. In last two years of her life, Joan remained in Arkansas where she and Monn built their dream home. There she passed on March 31, 2016. Joan is loved and missed because of her loving and giving nature and smile that lit up the room. Joan, you will always be in our hearts. Funeral services will be at 12 noon, Friday, April 15, 2016 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211, (501) 224-8300.
