Charles A. "Sonny" Parsley, of Conway, passed away peacefully at his home on April 16, 2016. He was born April 15, 1943 in Richmond, Calif. to Thomas and Ruby Bohannon Parsley, who preceded him in death. The family moved to Arkansas when Sonny was a young boy, and this is where he spent the remainder of his life. He graduated from Magnet Cove High School in 1961 and worked as a police officer, in the construction industry, and at Reynolds Metals before moving to Conway in 1985. There he worked for American Transportation Corporation until his retirement in 2003. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Anne Owen Parsley, of the home; children, Amy Robinson of Braselton, Ga. and Daniel Roberts of Conway; grandchildren: Hannah, Sam, and Elizabeth Robinson of Braselton and Mikah Roberts of Conway; sister, Frankie Marshall of Magnet Cove and brother, Jim Parsley (June) of North Little Rock; and a host of other much-loved family and friends. Sonny was a kind and gentle man who was always willing to help anyone in any way needed. He so loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He was an excellent woodcraftsman, one of the many hobbies he enjoyed in his retirement. His constant companion, especially after his illness robbed him of his health and energy, was his little dog, Scooter. Visitation will be held Monday, April 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett, Conway. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 19 at 10 a.m., also at Griffin Leggett, Conway; officiated by Bro. David Hatfield and Bro. William Love. A private interment will be at a later date at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Glenwood, Ark. Memorials may be made to Conway Cancer Foundation, 2605 College Ave., Conway, AR 72034 or Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Sonny's family would like to thank Dr. Sue Tsuda and the entire staff of Conway Hematology/Oncology for the treatment and loving care of our Papa, giving us more time with him than we ever thought we would have.
