Carolyn Sue (McNew) Fields, 70, of Maumelle passed away on Saturday evening. Sue was a woman of extraordinary courage and faith who accredited her resilience to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her life revealed God so plainly that not even cancer, strokes, operations, or Alzheimer's could prevail over her indomitable spirit. She met the love of her life when she was only 17, and gave him her number at the skating rink. Their eventual first kiss wasn't perfect, but after 52 years of marriage they finally got it together. Together they celebrated life, love and a passion for Christ. In her early ministry, she served the people in Colombia as a missionary. As a pastor's wife, state side, she directed many captivating choirs and extraordinary dramas. She held every relationship with fellow church members dear, praying for each one daily. Sue was a living Christ-like example of love, honor, and integrity. She loved her family with every fiber of her being, constantly reminding her children they would be her babies "even when they're 50." Her children will continue to be her lifelong joy and wonder. Heaven is now hearing a choir led by one of the best, but here on Earth may she continue to live on in the hearts and minds of the countless people that she touched. We love you. Until we meet again. She is preceded by her parents John D. and Mattie Jo McNew; survived by her loving husband, Ray Fields; son, Todd Fields (Wendie), daughter, Tiffany Fields Dennis (Chris); two grandchildren, Kohler King and Kylie Fields; three beautiful sisters, Joan Parker, Glenda Sutherlin (David), Denise Rozell; and her brother (Vernon McNew (Kathy); as well as countless nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials may be made to Foreign Missions, at Cross Journey, 4715 Gum Street, North Little Rock, Ark. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday at Cross Journey in North Little Rock. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 19th at Cross Journey. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main, Jacksonville. www.anaturalstatefuneralservice.com.
