Joel William Green Sr., age 88, passed away Thurs., April 21, 2016 in Fayetteville. He was born May 2, 1927 in Cale, Ark., the son of William J. and Esther Hicks Green. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters. He was a member of Doddridge United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II, and a United States Navy veteran serving during the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a part of the VFW, the Fleet Reserve and the American Legion. He enjoyed history, reading, fishing, hunting and the St. Louis Cardinals. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Mattie Fay Green; one son Joel W. Green Jr. and his wife Dyanna of Springdale, Ark.; one daughter Gina King of Fayetteville, Ark.; one brother Earl Green of Heber Springs, Ark.; two sisters Vivian Ammons of Prescott, Ark. and Pat Richardson of Camden, Ark.; two grandchildren Kathleen Rose Oxford and her husband Peter of Fayetteville, Ark. and William Edward Green of Chicago, Ill.; three step-grandchildren Bob Alexander, Kyle Green and Todd Wilkerson; one great-granddaughter McKenzie Rose Oxford and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Service will be held 10 a.m., Mon., April 25 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
