Dr. R. G. "Rusty" Roebuck, 57, of Cave City, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born on January 22, 1959 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the honorable Gene and Peggy Annette (Light) Roebuck. He worked for the USDA for 26 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Cave City where he was in the choir and taught Sunday School. At the age of 16, he got his pilot license. He attended Arkansas State University for three years and then Louisiana State University where he graduated with a doctorate in veterinary medicine. He had a private practice in Jonesboro for three years. Survivors include his wife Gwen E. (Fraley) Roebuck of Cave City; his father, the honorable Gene Roebuck of Jonesboro; daughters, Rebekah Asberry and husband, Tyler, and Rachel Roebuck, all of Cave City; a son-in-law, Stuart Etheridge; and four grandchildren, Jace Marlin, Luke Etheridge, Harper Asberry, and Maci Asberry. He is also survived by a brother, Randy Roebuck of Bentonville. He was preceded in death by his mother; a daughter, Bethany Etheridge; and his grandparents. Pallbearers will be Dennis Smith, Danny Smith, Kim McDaniel, Steve Daniels, Greg Crabtree, and Howard Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Mark Williams, Dr. Tom Albright, Dr. Dale Marriott, Larry West, Ted Evans, and Paul Taylor. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Cave City with Ron Canard officiating and music by Mike Hoggard. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Highland under the direction of Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home of Cave City.
