Dayton Thomason

Dayton Thomason, age 86, of Amity, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016. He was born July 8, 1930, in Alpine, the son of William Allen Thomason and Mary Amy Kirksey Thomason. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Larry Thomason; brother, Paul Thomason; and sister, Helen Wheeler. A member of the Amity United Methodist Church, Dayton retired with over thirty-three years of service with the Cooperative Extension Service and also served in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Wanda Thomason of Amity; three sons, Gary (Pam) Thomason of Arkadelphia, Danny (Carol) Thomason of Floral and Jeff (Rhonda) Thomason of Benton; one daughter, Cindy (Larky) Reeves of Arkadelphia; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Janice (Trillis) Jester of Glenwood and Carolyn (Bob) Denton of Hot Springs. Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, in Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. John McAnally officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Interment will be in Jones Cemetery. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
