Virginia Edington

Frances Virginia Hogue Edington, age 83, of Hot Springs died August 6, 2016. She was born August 24, 1932, in Tillar, Arkansas, to the late Vance B. Hogue, Sr. and Ida Mae Brown Hogue. She married the love of her life, Ernest, on May 4, 1950, and they began their journey. Virginia raised five of her own children and helped raise some of her younger brothers and sisters. Her family was a top priority throughout her lifetime. She graduated Business School and started her long term career at Benton Services Center while taking care of her family. In 1983, she and Ernest moved to Little Fir on Lake Ouachita to enjoy their retirement. Virginia, Ginny or "Ginner," to some, was well known for her cooking especially her fried crappie and wacky cake. Virginia thoroughly enjoyed crafting and shopping, she was an accomplished seamstress and was a friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest William Edington Sr., son, Ernie Edington, son-in-law, Larry Calhoun, and sister-in-law, Robin Hogue. Eight siblings preceded her in death: Florence Walton, Bud Hogue, Fred Hogue, Betty Lou Haisty, Viola Wheetley, Emma Jean Hogue, Lucille Hogue and Rita Hogue. Virginia is survived by three sons: Randy (Loretta) Edington of Fayetteville, Ark.; Rob (Diane) Edington of Mt. Ida, Ark.; Brent (Catherine) Edington of Hillsboro, Ore.; and one daughter, Lisa Edington Calhoun of Glenwood, Ark. Survivors also include six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren: Jonathan Edington (Amber), Stephanie Edington, Holly Edington Callaway (Nick), Kelly Edington Hall (Matt), Sallie Bowman, Claire Edington, Angela Calhoun Freer (Rick) and David Calhoun (Mary). Nine great-grandchildren: Hannah, Alyssa, Avery, Keagan, Riley, Arden, Kiersten, Alex, and Sarah. Virginia also leaves behind her beloved pet, Sam. Surviving siblings, include three brothers: Jim Hogue (Jerrianna), David Hogue (Hazel), Gary Hogue (Alma), and three sisters: Mary Gantt, Olivia Kirkpatrick (Jerry), and Lynn Jones (Maxey) also two sisters-in-law: Betty Jean Hogue and Macel Hogue plus a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held Friday August 12, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday August 13, 2016 at 2pm also at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel.
