Thomas D. Beasley

Thomas D. "Tom" Beasley passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016. He was born on September 2, 1929, in Magnolia, and moved to Camden in 1933. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He attended and graduated from Camden High School class of 1947, and also attended Magnolia A&M - now SAU University - and graduated in 1949 and later served on the board of trustees for SAU in Magnolia from 2004 until 2009. He went to work for International Paper in 1950 and worked his way to senior sales representative and retired with 32 years of service. He then went to work for Bancroft Bag, Inc. and retired in September of 1994 as sales manager. He was in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was an avid Razorback fan, as well as a supporter of Harmony Grove Athletics, served on the Camden School Board for 15 years and two terms as president. He was very active in his community, being a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Camden Gideon Group. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.M. and Irma Dennis Beasley; and his wife of more than 60 years, Hazel Beasley. He leaves behind a host of friends from Camden High School Class of 1947. He is also survived by his son, Joe Paul Beasley and wife, Debbie, of Camden; daughters, Denise Morrison and husband, Bill, of Camden, Mary Susan Thomas and husband, Mark, of Fayetteville, and Tommye Ruth Moulder and husband, Jeff, of New Caney, Texas; brother, John Beasley and wife, Pat, of Buena Vista; sister, Mary Delezen and husband, Russell, of Camden; six grandchildren, Elaine Evans of Dallas, Texas, Hailey Ross and husband, Nate, of New Caney, Texas, Deloney Turner and husband, Michael, of New Caney, Texas, Ben Beasley and wife, Beth, of Camden, Chelsea Lindsey of Fayetteville, and Hannah Thomas of Fayetteville; and three great-grandchildren, Kendall Marie Evans, Jilian Walker and Camden Ross. The family would like to express a special thanks to Silver Oaks Nursing and Rehab, Dr. Joe DeLuca, Ouachita County Medical Center Hospice, Dr. Larry Braden, and caregivers, Onyse Moore, Kathy Blaul, Sudie Jackson, Velinda Ryan and Inez Graham. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Gideon's or Ouachita County Medical Center Hospice.
