Linda Burgess

Linda Burgess of Austin, Ark., departed this life on Aug.12, 2016. She was born Nov. 13, 1927 and was married to Clarence "Amos" Burgess for 62 years until his death on April 14, 2016. Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved taking care of her family and her home. In addition to caring her family, Linda enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, camping and fishing from an early age. She was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Amos; parents, George and Ida Cathey; two sisters, Mildred Berry and Ruth Berry; brother, George "Sonny" Cathey. Survivors include her children, Karen Bryson (Joe Buck) of Austin and Timothy Burgess (Lorry) of Delaware; grandchildren, Michael Burgess, Jennifer Burgess, and Kaleb Burgess; three great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard "Andy" Burgess and a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank special friends, Carol Watson, Nona Diffy, Andrea Diffy, Jackie Fulton, Nicki Jolly, Linda Bright and Tom Sanders. Visitation will begin Monday, at 1 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery in Lonoke.
