Johnny Fay Snuggs, age 81 of Mayflower, Ark., departed this life, August 27, 2016 after a 28 day stay in Conway Regional Hospital where he received beyond excellent care. His daughter, Johnette Reynolds was by his side. He was born November 23, 1934, in Ola, Ark. (Nickel Switch) to John P. and Coma-Faye (Gasaway) Snuggs. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Alan Lee Snuggs, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Armstrong) Snuggs. They were married in Indianapolis, Ind., on February 12, 1960 they have one son, Joseph K. Snuggs; one daughter, Johnette (Snuggs) Reynolds (Sammy Jr.) and two grandsons, Stephen and Christopher Reynolds. One sister, Pauline Merryman, (J.E.) of Plumerville, Ark., three nieces and one nephew. A special sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Gene Williams of Kennett, Mo. Numerous counsins, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Johnny was affiliated with the Community of Christ, 4415 W. 41st in North Little Rock, Ark. 72116. Johnny will be remembered fondly for all the work and lessons he freely shared with his family, his sense of humor, and as an avid Razorback Fan. He will also be remembered widely for his assessment of the Navy career: "Every day in the Navy is like Sunday on the farm. Every day is a holiday and every meal a banquet. Every year is like a long weekend." He joined the US Navy on December 19, 1954 and received basic training at San Diego, Calif. Johnny retired July 1, 1974, in Memphis, Tenn., and moved to Mayflower, Ark., where he spent the last 42 years. While in the Navy he served with an all Arkansas group where he was a squad leader. He was sent to Norman, Okla., for Airman Preparatory School. He went to Millington NAS in Memphis for Tech Training for Aviation Metal Smith. He served in many positions in many countries over his 20 year career. His life will be celebrated at Roller-McNutt Chapel. With Elders Matt Bryant and Donna McVey from Community of Christ, and Bro. David Fox of First Baptist Church in Mayflower participating. Pallbearers will be Stephen Reynolds, Christopher Reynolds, Sammy Reynolds, Joe Snuggs, Jerry Snuggs, Jeremy Snuggs, Richard Wayne Snuggs and Kevin Snuggs. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home of Conway. Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 31, at the funeral home.
