Wayne Buford Smith

Wayne B. Smith Sr., 82, departed this life on Sunday, December 4, 2016. He was born December 5, 1933. He grew up in Dyess, Arkansas and moved to North Little Rock as a teenager with his family. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, George B. and Verda Smith, brothers, Bobby and Jacky Smith, and sister, Margaret Cox. Wayne is survived by two children, Wayne (Tinker) Smith, Jr (Jo) of Mayflower, Debbie King (Kenneth) of Cabot, brother, T. Richard Smith (Carolyn) of Sherwood, sister, Marilyn Tetrick of Cabot, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. At the age of 23, Wayne joined the United States Air Force. Wayne was a veteran of the Korean War. After discharge, Wayne started his own roofing business in which he retired. Wayne loved to fish and believed in simplicity, but mostly Wayne loved God. Wayne witnessed to everyone he came in contact with, always expressing the goodness of Jesus and all he had done for him. His soul cried out Hallelujah and he praised God for saving him. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 9 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, North Little Rock, Arkansas with his home going service and burial following at 2 p.m. Family requests that donations or contributions in memory of Wayne be made to Care link, P.O.
